Evening Supplementary Classes

The Woodlands Academy Madrassa provides a structured learning programme for boys & girls ideally aged between 7 to16. Our curriculum has recently been redesigned to allow pupils the benefit of studying a range of subjects alongside Quranic Recitation such as Aqeedah (Beliefs), Fiqh (Law), Islamic Mannerisms, History, and authentic Du’a/Adhkaar memorisation. Groups have also been reallocated using the criteria of ability rather than age, so that the emphasis when measuring progress is on actual performance and not speed of completing the whole subject while committing grave errors therein. The other key features of our Madrasa are as follows:

  • Group Based Learning: a collective teaching approach has been implemented, which will reduce waiting time and allow children to fully benefit from the allocated study periods
  • Modern Facilities: teachers will make regular use of visual aids and other Islamic software devices to encourage active learning amongst students
  • Monthly Reward Scheme: individual and collective prizes will be awarded to selected pupils based on attendance, punctuality, and performance
  • Regular Assessment: seasonal examinations alongside constant parental feedback will be utilised to monitor effective performance of children in all subjects
  • English Speaking Teachers: as we believe in nurturing future teachers from within the community, we are fortunate enough to currently have local young individuals taking lead roles within our teaching staff

Note: The Madrasa currently has over 200 boys and girls on roll, and an additional waiting list of approximately 40 children. Due to such high demand, and having outgrown our current facilities we are unable to accept any further applications until further notice.

Hifz-ul-Quran Tuition:
The Woodlands Academy Madrassa also runs a Hifz class from Monday to Friday between the hours of 5:30 – 7:30pm. Students wishing to memorise the entire Quran are systematically put through a rigorous form of training in order to increase their retaining capacity, and are therefore excluded from other subjects mentioned above. Currently a few places still exist within this particular class, however all potential students are subject to an assessment test prior to entry.

Naa’t/Nasheed Coaching:
To increase love for Allah and his beloved Messenger (May peace & blessings be upon him), a class has specifically been arranged that will provide dedicated training for children wishing to excel in the art of Naa’t recitation. Sessions are open to boys, as well as girls (under 12 only) between 12:00 – 2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. For further information please call Brother Tariq Aziz on: 07811 279 197.

Parental Guidelines:
It is important to note, that the primary responsibility of children’s education lies with the parents. This duty includes imparting correct morals and manners of everyday life as well as supplementing and reinforcing what they learn at the Madrasa. To support you, we aim to create a friendly atmosphere between teachers and pupils while maintaining a high level of discipline so that accessing Islamic Knowledge is easy and enjoyable for everyone. In order to achieve this, we have set out some important rules* for children to follow and hope that you as parents will assist us in making sure they are implemented. The importance of education cannot be neglected in this age and the Madrasa is only one part of an integral whole whereby individuals, parents, and families come together to create an environment that is illuminated by the Prophetic example.
