About Us
Our Teachers
Alhumdu-lillah, our principal teachers have spent many years studying the sacred knowledge with some of the world's leading scholars:
ALAMAH Sajid Hussain Zafar
Born in the early 1970's, Alamah Sajid originates from the beautiful valleys of Kashmir before departing to Karachi in formal pursuit of the traditional Islamic sciences. He later enrolled into a six-year religious studies programme at an institution affiliated to the renowned scholar and former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Shaykh Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari (may Allah have mercy on him). During this period he also continued secular studies and notably received Gold Medals at both the FA and BA grades, before advancing to specialise in the field of Hadith. Still at a young age, Alamah Sajid then formally began his teaching career while obtaining a double MA degree in Islamic studies and Arabic from the Kashmir and Punjab Universities respectively. Prior to his arrival in England, he held honourable positions of a Qadhi (Judge) and Lecturer of Islamic studies, while also being gifted the 'Presidential Award' by the Pakistan Government in recognition of his educational achievements.
IMAM Muhammad Yaseen
Imam Yaseen is an accomplished English speaking teacher who developed a strong interest in acquiring the traditional Islamic sciences from an early age. While actively participating in local gatherings of dhikr and knowledge, Sidi Yaseen secured his basic Islamic foundations through studies with qualified ‘Ulama’ from the community amongst them most notably Shaykh Rasul Baksh Saeedi of the FR Institute. To further develop his Arabic proficiency, he also travelled to the ‘land of Knowledge’ (Syria) and during this stay was fortunate enough to consistently meet and learn from several renowned Scholars of the current era.
Following the completion of his primary Islamic studies, efforts were then renewed to continue an academic career that would also provide an opportunity to engage with the local Muslim community. To date, he credibly holds a Bsc in Computer Science & Software Engineering and more recently received an Msc in Real Estate Management. Alongside other interests, Imam Yaseen currently pursues advanced studies in Tafsir & Hadith at the established Sultan Bahu Educational Trust, and personally leads other circles of sacred knowledge on a daily basis.
USTADHA Safia Shahid
Born and raised in the UK, Ustadha Safia studied the sacred knowledge in Damascus for a period of five years under the guidance of several illustrious scholars of our time such as Shaykh Gibril Haddad and Shaykh Adnan Darwish. Amongst other achievements, she also studied numerous texts under the tutelage of the erudite scholar Al-Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, and was gifted the honour of gaining teaching licenses in these texts as well as chains of transmission in other major books of Hadith. Following the conclusion of her studies in Sham, Ustadha Safia was authorised to instruct students in the various Islamic sciences and currently serves as the Head of Education for sisters at the Jamatia Islamic Centre in Birmingham. Here at the Masjid her primary responsibilities include teaching Islamic disciplines such as: Arabic, Fiqh, Tajweed, Hadith and Aqeedah.
